MEN, featuring JD Samson of Le Tigre, Michael O’Neill and Ginger Brooks Takahashi, will take the stage at Berlin on Friday. After-party with Chances DJs Nina Ramone and The Lady Speedstick, after after party featuring Berlin’s own Greg Haus.
“MEN is a Brooklyn-based band and art/performance collective that focuses on the energy of live performance and radical potential of dance music. MEN speaks to issues such as wartime economies, sexual compromise, and demanding liberties through lyrical content and an exciting stage show.”
Daaaanng homegrlz left at least THREE missed connections from Monday’s Chances. I mean sometimes we get like one, but folks must be sprung on some ish…. it’s all dudes though, where are the ladies at? Anyways, holler at your peoples - reposts below for your make-out convenience!
I didn’t see you at Sub Monday night. You were at Dannys week before looking hot….like you always do. You have dark hair, can work that dance floor, and carry a really tiny ….(very small) cell phone from what I recall. I randomly gave you a beer. Remember?
apparently we know each other through r***** - m4m - 27 (chances)
you accosted me as i was walking into subt last night, then again downstairs by the restrooms. then i got distracted.. just trying to figure out who you are. cheers.
saw you at chances dances last night (6-15).
me: tie die shirt
you: bearded with red t-shirt
i could tell that you were interested but then your lady friend (wearing spandex shorts) visibly dissapproved of my boyish good looks. it made me sad.
so….
don’t show your lady friend this post and give me another chance.
Lucky Geminis, you always get the best birthday weather and everyone wants to come out to see you. So cut up some cut-offs and come out tonight!
CHANCES!!!

Monday, June 15th 10p-2a
at the Subterranean - 2011 W. North Ave.
we’ve got a lot of new jams for you. Birthday grl Jean Genet wants to get a little clubby. Is that a Madonna sample I hear? Recent Madonna, no less. Video could use a little help though, how many times can we watch homegirl get her nails did?
I myself have been FEELING this business as of late. Weird to see Gossip on a major now, working with RICK RUBIN? They’re still killing though. The video is mad decent too. Are you feeling the Kenneth Anger/Stevie Nicks vibe? Can’t wait for the tour dates to drop…
that’s right folks, the freshly mixed “last night a cyborg saved my life,” created by yours truly, john twatters, has been posted to the off chances podcast and is now available for your electronically-augmented pleasure. visit the off chances mix cd website for the tracklist and mp3 download, or just use this handy lil player:
thanks to everyone who came out last night–it was packed + sweaty + all you dancing folks rocked shit OUT! rita and i (aka lady miss navy pier + john twatters) had a blast perpetuating the DIVA WAR that seems to be an inevitable side effect of us DJing together, and first-time DJ oli was amazing!
here’s a special little treat, courtesy of frequent chances DJ gay terrorist:
The chicago dyke march collective is in a period of transition. We hope you saw the recent press release about our decision to move to a new neighborhood every two years instead of every year. We believe and hope that this will allow us to do more significant and intentional solidarity, education, and coalition-building work.
Along with this decision, we are continuing to reflect on our collective structure and process, and we would like to invite you, as a dyke march supporter and community-member, to join us.
We are always seeking new core organizers, but we also want to offer opportunities for community members to offer suggestions and feedback on our work, as well as get updates about what we have been working on.
We plan to begin holding periodic open meetings, and our first will be this Saturday:
